Vigilance body recommends probe into 'Rs 1,300 crore scam' in Delhi classroom construction

The vigilance directorate has recommended a detailed probe by a "specialised agency" into alleged irregularities in the construction of 2,405 classrooms for Delhi government schools, claiming it involved a scam of Rs 1,300 crore. A report by the Delhi government's vigilance directorate recommending a probe into "grave irregularities and corruption” by the government in the construction of 2405 classrooms in 193 schools has been submitted to the chief secretary.

Massive fire breaks out at Delhi's Chandni Chowk market, 40 tenders at site

A huge fire broke out at Bhagirath Palace Electronic Market in Old Delhi on Thursday. About 40 fire tenders were present on the spot and are trying to control the blaze. So far, no casualty has been reported. Former Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “Efforts are being put in to douse the fire. Fire officials and Police are at the site. Fire has not been brought under control so far. Two floors have been damaged. No casualty has been reported. The reason for the fire is not known yet.”

The hunt for the missing body parts of Shraddha Walkar turned pan-India as cops conduct searches in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra aside from their previous probe in Delhi. Meanwhile, Delhi Police recovered five knives that were allegedly used by accused Aaftab Ameen Poonawala to dismember Shraddha Walkar's body. Aaftab Poonawala also underwent a polygraph test on Thursday where he was asked how he committed the crime, his relationship with Shraddha, where he hid the evidence and questions about his childhood and family, among other things. In other news, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that former BJP Delhi President and MP Manoj Tiwari is openly asking his goons to attack Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP rebutted Sisodia's claims, stating the AAP was 'totally frustrated' and that it was attempting to gain 'public sympathy'.
