By Srimoyee Chowdhury: Amid the abundance of depressing news where girls are molested or simply aborted before they can see the light of life, a wholesome and beautiful incident from Madhya Pradesh has won hearts.

The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara, at the house of Sanjit Chandravanshi. Sanjit is a golgappa seller and puts up his stall every day near Pola ground. A resident of Narsla village, Sanjit was overjoyed with the birth of his daughter.

In celebration of the baby girl’s birth, he distributed 4000 free golgappas among people who lined up in front of his stall. Sanjit has two brothers who also did not have a daughter. That’s why, when his wife delivered, he was delighted to welcome her to the world.

Sanjit Chandravanshi explained that he has three brothers but there has been no girl child in anyone's house for the last 10 years. And the birth of a daughter was almost like a burst of sunshine for him and his family, hence the celebration.

Aarti Sahu, a student who came to taste the golgappas, said that in today's times, daughters are considered a burden. And Sanjit’s excitement about having a daughter was a promising and wonderful incident in a society that makes life too hard for women right from the start.
