By India Today Web Desk: South Korea and Uruguay shared the points on Thursday as Group H got off to an exciting start.

South Korea started the brightest on the day with Son Heung-Min leading the attack. The Korean players kept putting in crosses over the Uruguayan defence but nothing major came out of it.

It took the South American team 15 minutes to get their teeth into the game and they slowly started to dictate the tempo of the match from then onwards.

In the 18th minute, Federico Valverde got a sniff of the goal and made the first major attempt of the match.. However, his shot went over the bar.

Three minutes later, Facundo Pellistri put a dangerous ball into the box, but Darwin Nunez failed to put any sort of touch onto the pass and steer it home. The teams kept on thrilling the fans with some end-to-end football and, in the 33rd minute, Korea should have been in the lead.

Hwang found himself free in the box and his shot went over the bar. After being left off the hook, Uruguay almost took the lead in the 42nd minute as Diego Godin's header from a corner hit the post.

Both teams came out for the second half with the same vigor and there wasn't much to separate both teams. In the 63rd minute, Nunez made a surge into the box, but his pass attempt was stopped by the Korean goalkeeper, Kim Seung-Gyu.

The defensive lines of both Uruguay and South Korea remained resolute and stubborn for much of the second half as the managers decided to bring in fresh legs in the hope of getting the winner.

Nunez would then go for a shot in the 81st minute that almost turned into an opportunity for a header from Edinson Cavani. But the ball went past the veteran quickly.

Uruguay almost got the winner in the 89th minute as Valverde's shot hit the post, much to the relief of the South Korean goalkeeper. 30 seconds later, Son almost made Uruguay goalkeeper Rochet pay for a poor pass but the Spurs man's shot went agonizingly wide.
