By India Today Web Desk: Even as India's ODI team, under Shikhar Dhawan, is gearing up for a 3-match series against New Zealand, star cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have begun work to return to action when India tours Bangladesh in December. India will take on New Zealand in the first of the 3-match series on Friday in Auckland but photos and videos from gym sessions of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from back home have gone viral on social media.
Days after Rohit Sharma took to social media and shared photos from his gym session, Virat Kohli has shared a stunning video of his intense workout session.
The former India captain was seen running on a treadmill and doing shoulder exercises. A clip of a shirtless Kohli pulling weights has left his fans in awe. Star batter Suryakumar Yadav, who shone in New Zealand T20Is earlier this month, responded to Kohli's workout video, sharing his admiration for his former skipper.
Kohli's chiseled physique earned admiration from fans who responded to the video that is garnering plenty of likes and views on Instagram.
Incidentally, one of the fans came up with a remark, saying Kohli has proved the notion of needing meat to have a toned physique and muscles wrong. The former India captain responded to the fan's comment.
"And then they say you can't be muscular if you don't eat meat," the fan wrote.
"hahaha the biggest myth in the world," Kohli wrote.
Kohli, in 2021, had clarified that he has been following a vegetarian diet. The former World No. 1 batter had in the past spoken about his love for 'butter chicken'. Kohli dispelled rumours that he had turned vegan, saying he takes "lots of vegetables, some eggs, 2 cups of Coffee, quinoa, lots of spinach, love dosas too. But all in controlled quantities".
A fitness freak, Kohli has been attributed to improving the overall fitness standards of the Indian cricket team. At 34, Kohli is one of the fittest cricketers going around and the Delhi batter has rarely missed international matches due to fitness concerns.
Kohli topped the batting charts at T20 World Cup 2022 with 296 runs in 6 matches even as India failed to go past the semi-final hurdle.
Kohli will return to action along with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul for the tour of Bangladesh where India will play 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. The star trio was rested for the tour of New Zealand, which followed the T20 World Cup.
