Last year, Chand became the first Indian cricketer to take part in the Big Bash League (BBL) after he plied his trade for the Melbourne Renegades, who finished at the bottom of the points table.

Back in 2021, Chand left India to pursue his cricketing career in the USA. In 2012, he captained India U19 to glory in the World Cup on Australian soil. In the final against the hosts in Townsville, he scored a sparkling century and won the Player of the Match award.

The Challengers, in the meantime, also have Netherlands’ Max O’Dowd, Ireland’s Curtis Campher and Sri Lanka’s Vishwa Fernando and Ashan Priyanjan as their overseas players.

They also have local talents, namely Taijul Islam, Ziaur Rahman, Mehedi Maruf, Irfan Sukkur, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Shuvagata Hom, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Abu Jayed Rahi, Farhad Reza and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury.

The Challengers finished third in the points table last season after garnering victories in five out of 10 matches. They bowed out of BPL 2022 after losing to Comilla Victorians by seven wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka in the second Qualifier.
