By Sabyasachi Chowdhury: India Women, on Wednesday, September 21, registered their second-highest score in WODIs. The Women in Blue scored 333 for the loss of five wickets against England Women in the second ODI of the three-match ODI in Canterbury.

Harmanpreet Kaur played a masterful knock of 143* off 111 balls with the help of 18 fours and four sixes. She started her knock with caution after Charlotte Dean got rid of Yastika Bhatia, who was starting to look dangerous.

She reached her half-century off 64, after which he raced to her century off 100 balls. Once she reached the three-figure score, there was no stopping her. Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar also lent Harmanpreet Kaur decent support.

In the last three overs, India scored as many as 62 runs. Left-arm pacer Freya Kemp ended up bearing the brunt of Harmanpreet's powerful display of strokeplay at St Lawrence Ground.

Kemp finished with figures of 10-0-82-1 and she conceded seven wides as well. Harleen Deol lent her apt support, scoring 58 vital runs in her 113-run partnership with the skipper.

India’s highest score of 358/2 in WODIs came against Ireland in Potchefstroom way back in May 2017. In that very game, Deepti Sharma scored 188 off 160 balls and it remains to be the highest individual score by an Indian woman in ODIs.

India also registered their highest WODIs score, surpassing the 281/3 that they scored in Derby during the 2017 World Cup.

England also conceded their second-highest total in ODIs, with 356/5 by Australia in April 2022 during the 2022 World Cup being the highest.
