TN BJP chief suspends party leader for 6 months, bars OBC head from participating in events

By Pramod Madhav: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu president for other states and overseas Tamil development, Gayathri Raghuram, was suspended by state party chief Annamalai for six months for acting against the party’s interests. Meanwhile, the state Other Backward Castes (OBC) head, Trichy Surya, has been barred from participating in party events.
Gayathri Raghuram and A Selvakumar, who is the deputy leader for the industrial cell, had a Twitter spat. Gayathri had blamed Selvakumar for trolls attacking her on Twitter. State BJP chief Annamalai, on Tuesday, November 22, issued a statement suspending Gayathri Raghuram for acting against the party’s interest and causing harm to the party’s image.
In another statement, Annamalai stated that a committee had been created under state deputy head, Kanagasabapathy, to investigate a leaked audio conversation between state OBC head Trichy Surya and minority head Daisy Charan.
The committee has been ordered to submit a report on the leaked audio conversation within seven days. Annamalai has also barred Trichy Surya from participating in any party events.
