Suspicious packet with pistols, cash found in J&K's Samba, probe on
A suspicious sealed packet was found in a field in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Thursday. The packet is suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the border.
By Sunil Bhat: Police on Thursday found a suspicious packet in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, prompting them to call a bomb disposal squad. The Vijaypur area, from where the sealed packet was found, has been cordoned off.
"Police team from Vijaypur police station recovered one suspicious sealed packet today in the field near Chhani Manhasan in Samba, following reliable inputs. The spot is undisturbed and intact," Additional SP Surinder Chaudhary was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
When Police opened the sealed packet, they found that it contained Rs 45 lakhs in cash, two pistols and four loaded magazines. The packet is suspected to be dropped by a drone from across the border.
A villager informed the police about the packet lying in a field in Vijaypur area early in the morning, PTI reported.
A bomb disposal squad has been rushed to the spot and further investigation is underway.
