The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) and police on Friday demolished an illegally built four-storey house of gangster Sube Gujjar in Baar Gujjar village, Manesar. The value of the property was worth Rs 4 crore and it was razed as part of an ongoing drive to demolish properties bought from the proceeds of crime. Sube Gujjar is currently lodged in Bhondsi jail.

A senior official told news agency PTI, "A team of Municipal Corporation Manesar (MCM) razed the gangster's house, built illegally on agricultural land, in Bar Gurjar village."

According to police, gangster Sube Gujjar is wanted in 42 criminal cases, such as murder, attempt to murder, extortion and arms act in the districts of Gurugram, Mewat, Rewari, Palwal and in Delhi. Gujjar used to grab land and properties by pressuring and threatening people, police said.

The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of top MCM officials, ACP Manesar Suresh Kumar and around 150 policemen. The civic body officials had razed the boundary walls of the house on Thursday evening and had to return due to heavy rain.

FAMILY TO MOVE COURT

The family members of the gangster alleged that the civic body did not give any notice before the demolition drive and will challenge the action in court.

“The house was not only the property of Sube. We also had a share in the house which was razed completely without any notice. We will challenge it in court”, said Gujjar's relative Ravi.

Omwati, another family member, claimed the house was built 10 years ago and during that time there was no corporation.

Refuting the allegations levelled by the kin of the gangster, MCM's District Town Planner (DTP) Sanjay Singh, who was on the spot, said the house was illegally built on agricultural land.

“After vacating the house, the demolition action was started again on the second day on Friday. No approval, license or change of land use was taken from the department for the construction of the house. We serve the notice earlier to vacate the house and the action has been taken as per the act”, DTP Singh told PTI.
