The Delhi Police’s economic offences wing on Wednesday questioned actor Jacqueline Fernandez’s fashion designer Lipakshi for seven hours in the Rs 200 crore extortion case. The case involves prime accused Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
According to sources, the police took Lipakshi’s bank details and found out that Sukesh Chandrashekhar had transferred Rs 3 crore to her account.
With this money, Sukesh Chandrashekhar had allegedly procured designer clothes of Jacqueline's choice from Lipakshi. During the interrogation, it was revealed that Sukesh had asked Lipakshi about Jacqueline's likes and dislikes.
According to sources, Lipakshi told the EOW that she had no idea about Sukesh’s fraudulently earned money. She may be called for questioning again, if needed, they added.
Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is currently in jail, is accused of cheating various high-profile individuals, such as former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.
On August 17, the ED filed a charge sheet naming Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused in a multi-crore money laundering case linked to Chandrashekhar. During the interrogation by EOW, it came to the fore that Sukesh spent a lot of money on Jacqueline and her close ones to impress the actor. Jacqueline was allegedly gifted jewellery worth over Rs 7 crore.
Sukesh had also allegedly gifted several high end cars, expensive bags, clothes, shoes and costly watches to the actor and her family members. Sources said Jacqueline had become emotionally attached with Sukesh.
However, one fine day, Jacqueline's hairdresser showed her newspaper cuttings, throwing light on Sukesh's past crimes, which apparently infuriated the actor.
Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi was also questioned in the same case for over six hours by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police on September 15.
