A customer in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai was shocked to find a dead mosquito inside a sealed packet of milk. A video of it is now going viral on social media. Officials are conducting a probe into the incident.
The incident happened on Tuesday, September 20. The milk was supplied by Aavin, the state government cooperative under the ownership of Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Limited. Aavin procures milk, processes it and sells milk and milk products to consumers.
In the video, the consumer can be seen holding the milk packet and showing the date stamp on the milk cover and then showing the floating mosquito. The milk packet was labelled as Aavin's green magic.
Aavin sells five types of milk packets in Madurai and they are distributed to more than a thousand depots along over 40 routes.
The milk packet with the mosquito was bought by the consumer from a depot near Madurai Kamaraj University. Upon finding the dead mosquito, he returned it to the depot.
After hearing about this, Aavin officials went to the depot and conducted an investigation. Officials in Madurai have stated that there may have been a mistake in packing and action would be taken against those who were negligent in the work.
