Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that the idea of the Bharat Jodo Yatra is to involve hundreds of Congress workers.

While speaking at a press conference in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi said, "You choose to focus on me but the idea of the yatra is to involve hundreds of Congress workers."

Explaining the need for the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said, “We are fighting a machine that has captured the institutional framework of this country, that has unlimited money and ability to buy, pressurise and threaten people. The outcome of that is what you’ve seen in Goa.”

He also said that the idea that is pushing the Bharat Jodo Yatra ahead is an India that is not at war with itself.

The Wayanad MP said, "The yatra is to tell the people of India that they need to be united. They need to go back to an India which was loving and affectionate towards itself."

"The success of this yatra is based on a couple of ideas. An idea that India which is united, an India which is not at war with itself, and an India that is not filled with hate," he added.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi began from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7 and will conclude in Jammu and Kashmir.

This comes just a few months ahead of several crucial assembly polls, including Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
