A Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) councillor’s husband entered the government health office in Coimbatore’s 61st ward and, in a very authoritarian way, took the attendance register and started checking the staff working there. A video of the incident is going viral on social media.
This is the latest in a series of incidents where the husbands of DMK councillors are showing undue authority and high-handedness.
The man was identified as Dravida Mani, husband of Adi Maheshwari, the local councillor. The health workers in the video can be heard objecting to the high-handedness of the DMK man. He was even told by one of the workers in the video not to put undue pressure on the frontline worker but rather speak to the supervisor about everything.
The DMK man can be heard saying that he just wants the work to be done and that is why he was checking attendance to see who was working and who wasn’t.
The workers can be heard saying that the crisis of the labourers with respect to pay, labour crunch, etc was not being addressed, but the pressure was still being put on them.
The DMK councillor's husband taking the attendance register of the health workers in a posture of authority, examining and questioning them in the 61st ward of Coimbatore is now going viral.
A few days ago, videos of a DMK councillor's husband assaulting a government school headmaster and grabbing him by the shirt collar went viral on social media. The incident took place in Tiruppur district, inside the school premises and in front of the students.
