Squid Game’s O Yeong-su denies allegations of sexual assault. Says, ‘just held her hand’

By India Today Web Desk: Squid Game actor O Yeong-su, who played the character of the antagonist-Player 001, has been indicted on charges of sexual misconduct. The actor, however, has denied the allegations and claimed he just held the complainant’s hand to show her around.
O YEONG-SU ACCUSED OF INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
On November 24, O Yeong-su was indicted without detention on charges of indecent assault by the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office. Oh Young Soo was accused of inappropriately touching a woman in mid-2017. The woman made a formal police complaint in December 2021, and in April 2022, the police closed the case without registering any case against the actor.
However, the prosecution reinvestigated the case on the complainant’s request and found evidence of ‘indecent behaviour’.
WHAT O YEONG-SU HAS TO SAY
Commenting via JTBC, the Squid Game’s actor denied the allegations. He said, “I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake. I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”
WHO IS O YEONG-SU?
O Yeong-su is a 78-year-old actor who became widely popular for his role as the host/ Player 001 in Netflix’s popular series, Squid Games. He had won the Golden Globe Awards in the category Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture for TV. He had also been nominated for Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the same show.
